Yes. Dora the explorer. As little as one month old this girl was leading the group in the routine walks up and down the farm. This white ball of fleece was the first cria born of 2022.
Good pedigree? She is daughter of Ameera. I am sad to say Dora didn’t get her mum’s pretty face, however she has her long staple, brightness, and density. She is also daughter of famous Popham Havengore. She takes from him the organised locks, the crimp, I adventure to say the fineness (but this could also be from mum), the pointy ears, definitely the temperament. She has grown shy as the new babies came along and she found herself too big in comparison. Dora doesn’t play with the other crias. She hangs out with the mothers.
Dora has a massive coat. She really is so white… but you can’t tell under all that layer of straw, brambles, leaves… Her coat collects absolutely everything. As much as I love it, it will take some time to prepare her fleece next year.

I was actually trying to take some nice wintery pictures of the alpacas in the snow, for a festive image to share. As it happens, white alpacas look not white against the pure snow. Sorry, I could not get a good picture. But I have one with no snow, where Dora is showing off right in the middle of the image.
