Sunny autumn days

The weather has been having some kind of trouble behaving and hasn’t displayed the natural expected flow of events.

Instead, we had a strange elongation of warm season well mixed with the first days of autumn rains. That, together with growing fleeces, was the perfect recipe for fly strike, which has taken a few animals in the fields around, judging by the smell.

Our group of breeding girls had enjoyed the last produce of the Orchard, which has held apples while nearly stripped of leaves and the odd flower.

This morning, Peggy and Stardust decided to take turns at limping. After herding the group a couple of occasions for checking, the limping had vanished, and our youngsters displayed their characteristic fight to not be touched.

Then, I managed to take a picture of Stardust so you can see how well she’s growing.

In the farm, we don’t only breed alpacas. Our broody queen of the year patiently sat on the biggest pile of eggs made while I wasn’t looking, and now she’s taking care of ten chicks that are an obvious representation of browns and mixed.

Finally, here is my companions while I do this relaxing job of farming as my livelihood does not depend on it.

I take the chance to express my respect to all those farmers, that whether they own the land or not, work daily the surface of the earth in a constant battle -with or against the force of nature- to keep food on their table and mine.
