Within the Diamond Saga, Netherite is a very special girl.
Even though all the alpacas in this group showcase very good behaviour, Netherite and Stardust are particularly calm and tame. However, as the pregnancy advances, Netherite is becoming more challenging when it comes to nail trimming. She has decided that sitting on the floor is better than standing, and just won’t facilitate the feet.
Anything near the abdomen is perceived by the dam as intrusive, or a threat. Cushing is a very normal self-preserving behaviour, and another indication that the pregnancy is still viable. So we have not concern whatsoever.
Netherite still allows for close nose to nose greeting, holding and haltering, jaw inspection, drench, a scratch on the neck, body scoring and, most importantly, some cuddles.
Down to business, Netherite displays the Diamond colour pattern taken from her dam, with a shade of brown taken from her sire. Her fleece is very well organised, and uniform, very soft, fine and dense. We expect her first cria this summer, and we couldn’t be more excited!
