Autumn joy

Just before the autumn showers

It has been a while since I sat to write about the herd. Spending less time with them, our crías are wilder. The crías are showing their fleece qualities and their personalities are very much developed. Playtime is burdened with the weather, and the fleeces don’t show their glory as they do in summer.

I cuddled Stardust today. She has the best handle. Her fleece is really bright and her head shape and face are lush. I still can’t get over her colour. Or lack of it. She is very shy. She panicked when I approached her, but then she stood quite nicely and let me check her face, her ears (so wide and fluffy!), her neck, back and fleece. Another calm descendant of the mystic Diamond Girl.

Youngsters taking turns to feed

Peggy is growing amazingly well, nearly catching up in size with the yearlings. She is confident to eat next to the greedy girls and still gets very good milk from her mum. She is a strong character -not difficult, but strong-. She is definitely a leader.

Grace is tamed like her sire, Kestle Aramis. She very much reminds me of him when I look at her, her face, her shape, her tale and body proportions. She does honour to her name. Grace also lets you do almost anything she needs without fuss or a fight. Her fleece is not bad either, with a decent crimp, soft handle and good density. Grace has taken the best from her dam and sire. We achieved a nice physical improvement, but most of all I particularly enjoy her company.

Kestle Grace

Dora is the most affectionate of all. She really invades anyone’s space and the others can get irritated when Dora decides to explore their rear while they are trying to eat or feed their babies. Dora was picking things out of my pockets yesterday, with her touchy lips, while I was trying to deliver my vaccination services. She’s got quite a skill there! Dora let me open her fleece when her turn came to have the injections. I think she’s by far the finest of last year’s, and she feels the softest. I may have a plan for her.

Eye inspection with Kestle Dora

The young boy did his super cute humming call while I inspected him. His mum was too busy eating. He is the most handsome of the 23 lot. I specially like his stand, his conformation. He is also quite playful and curious. His face. The crimp in his fleece is crazy, it curls in well-organised locks from the neck to the middle of his hind legs. When you could be falling in love, then he throws at you coarse fibres all over, which is a bit disappointing. Still, he is the children’s favourite and he lives in my list of most favourite ones, which is nearly half the herd!
