I had it on mind. Today I called them their names and they suit them well. I’ve never met someone so indecisive choosing names for their animals. I can finally introduce properly Quechua (Aka the boy, naughty boy, sometimes also 007) and Aymara (the girl, Aka pretty face):

Best friends
One of those relationships you have to enjoy while it lasts, as you know there’s an unavoidable end to it. The Boy and the Girl:
Versions of H2O
We did not have much of it since the summer, which was rather wet for a summer. Then in November came the rain, the wind, some snow, then a very heavy rainfall that left the surface covered in a raging torrent. Clearing the water bed was not so much fun. The debris from branches andContinue reading “Versions of H2O”
Moving on
This is the boy. Every year we get a boy, year after year, a one single boy. And for a long time, each one of the boys get to be called the boy until eventually we come across a name we think suitable for the particular animal. So far, after nearly five months, this oneContinue reading “Moving on”
Ivory
It’s not good news today. She fought for days and days. Until the very last second. Even when she was unwell she was sweet, she was tame and looked into your eyes, talking to your soul. Her colour was awesome, her touch was magic. She was so dense and soft! Ivory awakened the curiosity ofContinue reading “Ivory”
Just in time
It didn’t quite look like it, and the weather app is not always accurate with the forecast, but just in case we brought the animals in. Good job we did! It’s chucking it down!!
Visiting English gardens
Who wants a sterile piece of land when you can coexist with Nature that looks like this!? The pictures are from different locations. It requires work. However, I do like an English garden, far from sterile low maintenance designs.
Check mate
The balance after the matings, checking for pregnancies before we decide the husbandry needs for each group of alpacas. Trelawney happens to be the one to help checking who’s taken or not. I can’t help but feeling sorry for him, as he’s presented to all the girls but he’s not allowed to touch them. He’sContinue reading “Check mate”
End of summer
During the last few months, we’ve been looking at the sky, wondering where the summer was. It eventually gave us a few days of sunshine. September has brought more rain, making the shorter days more noticeable. The crias don’t seem to mind the rain, though. They are playing constantly, running, chasing, and investigating around, asContinue reading “End of summer”
No crowd
It did happen, however I had not shared it. We did have only two crias out of six we had planned last year. Our breeding is in a standby at the minute. But we will get back to it eventually. Coming back to the arrivals this summer, we again managed to have only one male.Continue reading “No crowd”
